BREATHSCAN PROJECT

The Installation Management Command has launched a BreathScan Pilot Program to support the Army Chief of Staff's Safety and Occupational Heath Strategic Plan in December 2007 through congressional funding.   IMCOM and Army personnel, military and civilian, had the opportunity to receive a personal alcohol breathalyzer, instruction on use of the device and training directed toward changing popular attitudes and behaviors associated with alcohol consumption and to facilitate awareness on the significant impact of alcohol on driving abilities.

The program objectives were to (1) improve command information awareness, (2) promote behavior modification, (3) prevent substance abuse and (4) improve command safety and force health protection.

The program was extended until all devices were exhausted, which occurred 7 May 2009.  Organizations, activities or units that want to continue utilizing the products may purchase the products through the resource listed.  The products must be purchased using the NSN (National Stock Number) for the key chain units and refills.
